A lady called Private Detective Reading convinced her
husband must be having an affair. He left the house every day at the same time
but some nights he was awfully late coming home and he would say he had been
working late but there was never any more money for the overtime. He was also
changing. He was very low, getting awfully thin and in a constant state of
worry. Our client felt it could only be an affair.

We decided to do a six-hour session of surveillance to see where
he was going. Our client claimed that he never answered his direct phone at
work and she was told not to call work anyway because he was too busy which of
course she never did. Whilst following the target he did not go to work he kept
walking around, going into coffee shops and seemed to be filling his time with
nothingness. At lunchtime he ate a packed lunch and his wife had packed him and
wondered around the park. He continued to wander around until six o’clock when
he went.

We informed our client that this is what he’d done and
presented her with a report containing video and photographic evidence. She was
shocked, hugely shocked and didn’t believe this could be what he was doing.
Once she had calmed down she decided that she would confront him. She later
told us that he was pretending to go to work and that he had been made
redundant and was embarrassed to admit it even to her. She was delighted that
he was having an affair but saddened to think that he couldn’t even tell her
that he had lost his job.
